Tales From Paris
Joi Salon’s very own Amanda & Briana traveled all the way to Paris to attend a color correction class at the Wella World Studio, taught by the celebrity hairstylists/instagram hair gurus Briana Cisernos & Shannon Rha!! Talk about dedication to always staying educated!
“T H E W O R K S H O P” Color Correction MasterClass gave an in depth look on their intricate signature color techniques, where no hair goes untouched. Incorporating baby lights, foilyage, balayage and hairline detailing – achieving all over brightness and those coveted bright balayage looks is possible.
In the upcoming weeks Briana & Amanda will be teaching back all that they learned to the rest of Joi Salon, which we are eager to be able to share with all of you!
On Thursday August 11, the Joi Salon on Atlantic Ave held a fabulous fundraiser for North End Against Drugs. Salon Owner Erica Harris and Salon Manager Jessica Winterle put together an unbelievable evening to help out N.E.A.D. Along with their incredible staff, they raised over $2000 to help NEAD with programs for youth and families. The salon was packed with people having a great time, indulging themselves in some of the various services being offered that night, like Beachy Waves or a Spray Tan. There was a fantastic raffle, delicious food and a wonderful night of socializing. Several members of the NEAD Board were in attendance along with many of Joi’s regular clients and several friends of NEAD from the neighborhood.
“NEAD is extremely grateful to Erica, Jessica and their entire staff. They were amazing from the planning, to advertising and getting prizes and even cooking the food – the shrimp was incredible! We cannot thank them enough for their generosity and friendship,” stated NEAD president John Romano. “We encourage all of our friends and neighbors to stop in the Salon at 2 Atlantic Ave and check out what they have to offer. The place is totally amazing and the staff is fabulous!”
The following businesses contributed to the successful fundraiser and we would like to thank them for their support of North End Against Drugs and the Youth and Families in the North End/Waterfront neighborhood: Carmelina’s, Billy Tse’s, Sail Loft, Joe’s, Living Room, In Jean-Ius, Exhale, B/Spoke, Howl at the Moon, The Juicery, Dermalogica, Oribe, R+Co, Goldwell, Rob Gronkowski, Paddy’s Pub, Feeney Brother’s Construction, Bricco, Golden Goose Market, Eastern Harbor Seafoods, Bin Ends

Share your new look! We are asking our beautiful clients to take a picture of themselves after a visit to Joi and post to their Instagram feed, tagging us @joisalon and #LOTM and #joisalon. Also doesn’t have to be just hair…if you’re loving your brows, skin, spray tan, and/or hair please share! We will pick a winner every month, and they will receive a prize!

Elumen is hair color that eluminates the hair intensely from the inside out to achieve intense and brilliant color results, exceptional shine, and healthy looking hair. We were very lucky to have Goldwell educator, Robbie Tomaskow come to Joi and teach our stylists the latest Spring trends in color using the very versatile Elumen. From a super shiny gloss to extreme fashion shades, you can be as creative as you want with Elumen. Ask your stylist how you can update your look using Elumen during your next visit to Joi.
The stylists learned a new razor cutting technique lead by Erica. Erica traveled to Miami to take a razor cutting class taught by Howard McLaren, creative director of R+Co. Here is Howard’s bio http://www.randco.com/about. The stylists loved the new technique and have been using it to give their clients the latest cuts. Here are some of the before and afters from our class. Thank you to all our models!

Last Monday, October 19th we had a full day of education here at Joi. We started the morning with the Marc Fontaine, district sales manager of Goldwell USA. Marc was teaching a class on “Customizing the Salon Experience”, where we learned new ways to enhance each and every one of your visits to Joi. We always strive to make our clients feel welcome, informed, and leave looking and feeling their best.
Part two of our full day of education was with Manny Rolon, educator from V76 and one of the top men’s grooming specialists in the country. Manny showed our stylists the latest looks and trends for men. Ladies, tell your guys they don’t have to go to a barber shop to get their next haircut. Gentlemen, there is a way to love your next haircut without leaving with a boy’s regular and waiting two weeks for it to look the way you want. We’re here for you!
Thank you to Marc & Manny for a very motivational Monday!
