In August, the Joi Salon tribe traveled to Austin Texas for the largest hair awards show IN THE WORLD: Behind The Chair One Shot Hair Awards! For those of you who don’t know, behindthechair.com along with their instagram account is THE hairstylist destination for inspiration, education, what’s hot, along with some laughs.
Now when we say this is the largest hair awards show in the world we aren’t kidding, there were 215,000 entries across all categories AND there were stylists representing 13 different countries present!! That is nothing short of INCREDIBLE. Our very own Jade was nominated in the Waves and Curls category and we couldn’t have been more proud to have one of our own receiving such an honor to be nominated.
The best of the best was there, some of our hair idols that we follow on a daily basis. Along with the awards show there were 18 classes taught by 50 different artists stretched out between three days. From balayage to vivids, waves, braids, and up styling to name a few, the weekend did not fall short with education. The weekend was filled with endless inspiration, education, and tons of laughs among artists from all walks of life.
We came home inspired and hungry for more. This industry is forever changing and you have to stay ahead of the game, or you’ll be left behind. We have been so excited to be able to share our experiences with all of you since we’ve been back, along with putting our newest education to work. We can’t wait to go back again next next year, but all be up for a nomination!
